The pandemic and its impact on travel have fluctuated from month to month, but travelers’ safety concerns have persisted. We’ll need to continue to stay aware of these hesitations and develop solutions that can help make them comfortable with traveling again.
Earlier this year, we started launching new plans that include covered reasons for epidemics in select states. We’re pleased to announce that these plans are now available in all but a few states.
Covered reasons for trip cancellation and interruption now include epidemic-related illness of the insured, their family member, or their traveling companion—as well as individually-ordered quarantine of the insured or their traveling companion. For travel delay benefits, denied boarding due to suspicion of epidemic-related illness of the insured or their traveling companion is now a covered reason. For emergency medical and emergency medical transportation benefits, epidemic-related illness of the insured has been added as a covered reason for the new plans.
Certain temporary accommodations are still in effect for those who purchased a plan before these new plans became available, and for customers who reside in states where the new plans haven’t yet been approved for release.
